The ‘magic’ begins at the UK’s first thermal modification plant

After much anticipation, some frustrating delays, and a lot of hard work, we are pleased to announce that our new thermal modification plant is operational. And, very excitingly, we have produced the first batches of Brimstone timber using our new on-site modification plant. This production unit is the first of its kind in the UK, and it’s a big step forward for Brimstone timber.

We are very proud that the thermal modification plant is now up and running – and just in time for Christmas!

Brimstone is a thermally modified timber cladding made in the UK, from timber grown in Britain.

“We are very happy with the results from our new on-site, thermal modification plant” said Vastern Timber owner and managing director, Tom Barnes.

“Brimstone thermally modified timber is ideal for cladding and decking, and it’s a great choice for anyone looking for a locally grown alternative to imported hardwoods. And thanks to the magic of thermal modification we can transform fast-growing local timber – like poplar, sycamore and ash, which are not naturally durable – into a long lasting and beautiful timber, which I think can really make people smile.”
