How to fix
Face fix only. Two fixings per board / batten
Begin at the bottom, ensuring that the first board is level. Orientate the board so that the uppermost edge is sloping down and away from the building. At each batten use two fixings, each located towards the outer edge of the board. Subsequent boards can be spaced 5 – 10mm apart, depending on the desired appearance. It is important to ensure that any building paper or insulation will not be visible through the gap at eye level.

Recommended battens for splayed cladding
Profiled Thermowood or treated softwood battens are recommended for use behind splayed cladding.
The minimum thickness of primary battens should be 40mm. Horizontal battens to have an angled top face to shed water.

Batten spacing for external timber cladding
400 – 500mm
Fixings for splayed cladding
Only use stainless steel fixings for external cladding.
For fixing splayed cladding we recommend two 50mm ring shank nails or trim head screws both inserted through the face of the board.
Splayed cladding profiles are not designed to be installed with hidden fixings.
When to fix
Year-round, ideally between September and March.
