The Collector Earl’s Garden at Arundel Castle

Two years of planning, 13 months of craftsmanship and 50 British oak trees supplied by Vastern Timber, all combined to win a prestigious Wood Award, for The Collector Earl’s Garden at Arundel Castle in West Sussex.
For the second year running Vastern Timber, a 100-year old family business based in Wiltshire, was the supplier of choice for a winning project in the prestigious Wood Awards.
Vastern specialises in sourcing and providing the very best quality British and European grown hardwoods. It has one of the largest hardwood sawmills in the country and sources wood from well-managed forests certified by the FSC and PEFC.
Vastern Timber gets involved in a wide range of projects, but the gardens at Arundel were particularly unique. After supplying British oak to one of last year’s Wood Award winners, having another opportunity to take part in something showcasing the beauty of British wood was too good to miss.
The new garden, at Arundel Castle in West Sussex, was created as a memorial to the 14th Earl of Arundel and contains many monumental structures carved out of English green oak.
